Daylight Losing Time

Is it Daylight Losing Time - because we gained an hour? After a week or so we should all be adjusted, right? I wonder if we could save that hour and just use it little bits at a time, whenever we are late for something important.

I felt like I got some of that time back on Sunday, playing with Joao Junquiera at the Blending Cellar. It is wonderful to have Joao back in town, and it is possible we will be there again this Sun... just don't know yet! And time definitely stood still on Thurs night, too, as Bateria Alegria led the samba parade down the Mall to the Laughing Goat. For a few minutes it was summer again. Way to dance, people!

I have promised not to be late with this message... although sometimes I wait because things seem to come together at the last minute. Then again, often it's just that old Daylight Losing Time getting the best of me, although come to think of it, the same thing happens during Daylight Savings. I actually belong to a Time Bank, but that doesn't seem to help. Meanwhile, there is music worth mentioning–

FRI    Nov 13,  10pm  @ Sandbar (2161 N Frontage Rd,Vail)
Salem - a fusion of latin/hiphop/funk/jazz with Todd Johnson

TUES  Nov 17, 6:30-9:30 @ St Julien Hotel (9th&Walnut, Bldr)
Dexter Payne Quartet -  trraditional Brasil: choro, samba, bossa, baiao with  Bill Kopper, Francisco Marques, Raoul Rossiter.

Easing into a quiet holiday season it's a good time to to remember that nothing brings magic to a gathering of friends like live music. It heals our hearts and brings us together, greases wheels and opens doors. Try it ... you will be glad you did!

See you soon,
Dexter
