Back from a quick west coast swing - it is always great to see live oaks, redwoods and palm trees in OR and CA, and it's always good to be home. The Lionel Young Band launched our first tour of 2013 with dates in Portland, Eugene, northern CA, San Francisco and the Bay Area. Halfway through recording a new album, the band excites audiences everywhere we play and this trip was no exception.
Another recording which I am pleased is moving ahead, documents the amazing artistry of the players I work with in the Dexter Payne Quartet. Our regular Second Thursday (of each month) at Caffe Solé falls on Valentine's and owner Suter DeBose has promised their new pastry chef will have surprises, and wines to match, so show yourself a little love and get ready for a treat. Bring someone you care about or meet them there, we will have a great evening of Brazilian music for listening and dancing!
But first, come to Boulder Library (Canyon Theater) today at noon for the one hour Midday Music Meditation, this month with Jesse Manno, James Hoskins, Bret Bowen, Jenna Woods, Tom Weiser, Dexter Payne. A little quiet time is something we all need - it gives us the clarity and presence to see through the fog. Let us provide a live sound track for that rejuvenating hour!
Then in a week or so the Lionel Young Band will be in the midwest, briefly. Let your friends in Cleveland OH, Monroe MI, and Springfield IL, know that we are coming their way!
