Beco Do Choro... and BaoBao Fest

Is the stars? Exceleration of time? Or just that good old "everything happens at once!"

I am very proud of my first college teaching project Naropa Afropop Ensemble, who after only 7 weeks of rehearsal are playing for the:

Baobao Festival. Boulder Theater on SAT March 7
. Preview on KGNU 4pm Sat Feb 28, at the Broker (Baseline&30th, Boulder) on Wed March 4 and at DU Thurs March 5. With the great drummer PaaKow, we are backing Ghanain singer, drummer, composer, Kofi Mawuko.

Meanwhile, Im with Salem at the Bistro (Alma) tonight FRI March 27 and Mahogany Ridge (Steamboat) SAT March 28.

Beco Do Choro is a quartet of Kailin Yong, Joao Junqueira, Francisco Marques and Dexter Payne dedicated to sharing traditional and original Brazilian music. This promises to be a fine afternoon of fun and beautiful music for the whole family. No singing or dancing allowed. (Just kidding)

Time to hit those slopes - Dexter has another weekend in Keystone. Todd Anders Johnson's Salem will hold forth at the Snake River Saloon Fri and Sat, with Dave Devine driving the guitar. Then next

Thursday Feb 12th there is a special event: George Inai will host a Valentines Extravaganza at the Euphoria Cafe, 21st and Larimer, 7-10 pm.Complete with sushi chef from Pacific Exchange. I wonder if I can put the poster up here - its a real special band and Ill try to describe it before its too late.


Then on Sat, the 14th it all breaks loose. First, 5-9pm with Dan Treanor, the harmonica wizard, at Papadeouxs (Sheridan & Hwy 36) and then from 9pm on with Patty Valentine at the Open Tap

Then on Sun 15th, its Beco Do Choro in Longmont for a semi-private fund raiser.

Please keep in mind that if you elect to stay home for Valentines, you can always order out for dinner and music.
