Dear friends,
I heard the explanation about alternating hot and cold weather. Doesn't make it any easier to adapt….and I thought I was flexible!
Tonight, Dexter Payne Quintet will convene at Caffe Solé to begin a great year, it is so gratifying to play with these guys!
I must also mention that Aaron Lande, one of Art Lande's boys, is new chef at Solé. "Up a notch" hardly describes the cuisine, with wine to match. Join us for dinner!
Almost ready for CD release in March. Our goal - all new material by March, so if you want to hear any of the old favs, you'll have to buy the CD! (As a subscriber, you will get first shot at download)
Then I'm off to New York - working with family of my late friend Gaudencio Thiago de Mello to collect and archive his manuscripts and music….but also to celebrate the premier of:
and to sample the bounty of Golden Fest, Brooklyn's annual weekend Balkan music bash.
(Please note I will miss Marrakech Express at Cafe Solé Jan 16 but they will be there with James Hoskins)
I will return for a double-header Jan 21 (Tues) with Marrakech Express in the Boulder Library Tuesday Concert Series AND the Dazzle premier of Nokuthula, marimba-based band I play with whenever I can, this time featuring Dave Corbus (gtr) and Paa Kow (drumset).
Please come out to a show and say HI!
Do stay tuned - those who receive this by email will see a switch soon to "Mail Chimp" service. If that includes you, please follow instructions (coming soon!) to insure its continued arrival in your box.I will be better able to regionalize the mailing, and reach some folks I haven't been able to…
All together now,
Dexter
