Springtime in the Rockies

Dear friends,

Early reviews on the new Lionel Young Band CD are coming in thumbs up!  I won't go into detail, but we are sharing the fruits of our winter's labor with a few record companies, and although we have no hard offers, the reaction so far is positive! Cant wait to share these tunes with YOU - four classics and nine originals, complete with guest star excitement, if we keep everything!

The band is headed back over to the desert next week - you guessed it, Laughlin NV again! This time its the "River Run", one of the biggest motorcycle events of the year, Im told. We will be there four days April24-27, so come on over for some 90 degree days!

Meanwhile (see below), here comes an entertaining weekend: three events that cover a variety of musical tastes. It's spring time in the Rockies, so come on out and celebrate. Please - drop everything and join us for fun this weekend!
Best, Dexter

And... SUN  7:30 at Lone Tree Arts center, with Deborah Schmit-Lobis and singers from Central City Opera. Here is Deborah's news on that evening:

Hello out there,
Tracy LaGuardia on violin, Dexter Payne, clarinet, Andy Holmes bass, Lynn Schwenkl and myself are in the 'band' for this totally fun show. Lone Tree is a new performing arts facility in So Denver and really a great place to hear/see a concert. AND yes, this is opera, but not your 'typical' opera. There will be everything from Handel to Van Morrison and a lot of swing in between! I dare say the musicians add a lot to the show and we hope you can come out and support LIVE MUSIC!

Hope to see you there!

If you haven’t been to the new Lone Tree Arts Center or haven’t enjoyed a performance of Smooth Operator, this Sunday is your chance to do both at a very reasonable cost ($10 -$15).  Smooth Operator features Amanda Raddatz, Sarah Barber and Steve Taylor performing scenes and songs for the smooth operator characters of opera and musical theatre – Don Giovanni, Dalila, Cleopatra, Sweeny Todd, Prince Charming, Mrs. Lovett and others.  This time around Deb Schmit-Lobis has created arrangements for a combo - bass, drums, clarinet, violin and piano.  It sounds great!  She also created a medley of “moon songs” that gives everyone a chance to shine (pun intended) and puts the audience in a really upbeat mood.  It’s family friendly, too.
I hope to see you there.
